THE HISTORY OF FORT WAYNE CLUTCH & DRIVELINE
In the late fifties, working for a clutch business out of Chicago, Frank DeMayo traveled to Fort Wayne, Indiana. In Fort Wayne, Frank saw a community that was growing both in the manufacturing industry and the agricultural industry. Frank decided to “roll the dice” and start his own business. Little did he know then, but he would be responsible for growing his company into not just a leader in the clutch & driveline industry, but the leader in antique clutch rebuilding and restoration worldwide.
With Frank and two employees, Pat Carr and Sid Smith, Fort Wayne Clutch & Driveline was founded in 1966. Our first shop was twenty feet by forty feet. It didn’t take long to see the company was growing. In 1968, Fort Wayne Clutch & Driveline built an 8,000 square foot building at our current location, 2424 Goshen Road. By 1987, we needed more space. Our current building is over 80,000 square feet. Our first employee, Pat Carr, is still with the company after 40 years.
Our experienced and knowledgeable staff has helped Frank to grow his company into the leader in the industry. With over 100 years combined experience in the industry, our staff strives to provide excellent products and outstanding service to you at the best possible price.
Fort Wayne Clutch & Driveline has also added two locations in Ohio in which to distribute our product. Columbus Joint & Clutch is located at 1432 Sullivant Avenue in Columbus, Ohio. Marietta Joint & Clutch is located at 415 Gilman Avenue in Marietta, Ohio.
In 1998, Fort Wayne Clutch & Driveline entered the worldwide web at www.fortwayneclutch.com . And, in 2004, Frank and Gloria DeMayo opened yet another store for Fort Wayne Clutch & Driveline, our own on-line E-bay Store. Once again, a vision that has achieved tremendous growth.
